ABOUT OUR CLUB

Stephen Leacock Tennis Club has been in existence since 1965. The club has four beautifully laid out tennis courts, a small cozy clubhouse, floodlights to play at night, and a very dedicated Executive consisting of members who are either newly elected or re-elected every two years.

A few years ago all the courts were resurfaced with a fiberglass layer and are still looking brand new.

The tennis courts are bounded on the North side by a park, on the East side and across Birchmount road by a golf club and on the South side by a very large parking lot where there is plenty of space to park.

Our house league is a very competitive event which runs from May to September and is very popular.  Members of all ability levels are placed on teams that play against other on a weekly basis until the end of the season.

We sponsor three STF (Scarborough Tennis Federation) teams to play interclub matches in Scarborough. All three teams have been very successful.

Every Friday is our round robin night.  Members drop in from 7pm to 11pm.  Games and partners are arranged by an executive every 30 minutes and refreshments are served.  This is a great way to meet other members.

Our junior program starts in May with a series of free lessons after which junior members can continue with 10 paid lessons at a very nominal fee up to the end of the season.

The club has three certified coaches and members are encouraged to take lessons either to correct their strokes and thereby avoid injuries or just to hone their tennis skills.
